RAW: Simple Chocolate or Rum Balls
Ingredients:
-3 cups Brazil nuts/ walnuts / almonds
-1 1/2 cups medjool dates
-3-4 tablespoons raw cacao powder
-dried coconut flakes
- Optional: add rum to taste for rum balls
Chop the nuts only in the food processor until they’re in little pieces.
Add the remaining ingredients until a sticky paste forms. (Coconut flaked can be mixed in here or added later as a surface decoration)
With clean hands (and ice cream scoop) give them the shape you prefer (balls, squares etc). (or even better) use a measuring spoon as a mold by stuffing the final paste into them, resulting in pro-looking half-ball shaped desserts.
Roll them over the coconut flakes and put them inside the freezer for 15 min.
Eat and enjoy!
Thank you!

Hello everyone
We are so happy to host the benefit dinner last Sunday at Les Katacombes! We hope you had a good experience!
This project was so special for us all! Not only was it a good opportunity for many people to confront their perception of vegetarianism, but it also allowed us to raise money for AGROSALUD, a project financed by L’ŒUVRE LÉGER! We have raised approximately 1500$ thanks to your generosity and support!
By writing to you, we want to express our gratitude towards many people who had supported us with a big heart.
We want to thank L’OEUVRE LÉGER, which made this project possible with their generous funding. We are very grateful towards Les Katacombes, which revealed to be the perfect place for our event! Without the bands, this event would not be as interesting either! Thanks to the groups The Bearcubs and Ainsley McNeaney (a new talent in Montreal), we have enjoyed amazing performance. The food was just amazing! We were able to enjoy this delightful buffet thanks to Gigi Cohen (Harvard Gourmet) and Jessica Watters (Juicy Lotus). Thank you so much Jessica, who stayed until the end to serve the buffet! Moreover, we hope that you remember the raw vegan dessert made by George Karpat, you will be able to find his recipe on our blog (vegetopia.tumblr.com). Finally, we want to thank our wonderful and indispensable volunteers!
We want to thank He Lu (MacIdea) who have designed our awesome and fresh posters and the tickets! Thanks to Rose, we have our unique blog template ! Amie Watson have helped promoting the project through her morning radio interview with Dihua on CKUT!
It is thanks to Innovation Youth that our hand-on cooking workshops took place! Without Melodie Roussel’s unconditional help (youth program coordinator at the YMCA downtown) we would not be able to reach so many wonderful sponsors. For those who have had the chance to learn to cook with Chef Kiki (Kristina Czerkawski from les Gâteauries), and Dominique Dupuis (L’Armoire du Haut), we owe them much gratitude! For those who had the chance to taste the vegetarian meat, you can find them in Vegetarian Paradise CHI-MING located near metro Mont-Royal.
Of course, we also want to thank our speakers, Monica Giacomin (Marianopolis College), Sameer Muldeen (Montreal’s Vegetarian Association), and Aequo Animo for their time and support!
We also want to highlight many staff members from Marianopolis College for their unconditional support. Louise Mclellan and Trudy Ste-Croix were amazing people who believed in our project from the beginning. Moreover, thanks to Esther, our wonderful librarian, we have gained much visibility at school.
Finally, we want to thank all our sponsors, who have made extremely generous donations which enable us to raise so much funding!
They are: Lush, Aux Vivres, Crudessence, Prana, Lush, Viva Vegan Store, thé Kusmi, Dix Mille Villages, Yoga Sangha, Nubia Spa vert, Zentan, l’Armoire du Haut, Natur-a (lait de soya), et le guide conscience verte.
We sincerely hope that you have been able to benefit from the project! If there is anything we want you to remember, we would love to make you more aware of the available healthier and greener alternatives. We hope that you will be able to continue supporting organization and business who share values that seek to enhance your health and that of the environment.
If you have made donation and wish to receive a tax receipt, please contact:
